Is there anything sweeter…

Maternity sessions, newborn sessions, family portraits…
Nope, absolutely nothing is sweeter than this in my book!

Play Ball!
Posted on April 15, 2012

I had the pleasure of photographing the T-Ball, Buddy Ball, Minor and Major league teams during opening ceremony on April 13 & 14. Parents, photo order forms should be going home to you soon. Once shoot dates have been arranged, you will be notified. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to do this for Yazoo DYB! Below is the link for the photo order form, in case you should need it.

If there were an award….
Posted on April 7, 2012
If there were an award for “Worst Blogger Ever” – I’m sure I’d win it. Here’s to buckling down and making this a part of my session routine! Hopefully it won’t be too difficult to start this habit… (Famous last words, right?)
Currently, I am working on several projects – including the photographing of Yazoo Dixie Youth boys’ baseball! I’m so excited to have this opportunity to photograph so many of our beautiful & handsome babies (they are always our babies, no matter how ‘old’ they get, right moms?!).
I’ve posted a link to the price list (your order envelopes will look like this) below. This is my first time at the ball field, so y’all please bare with me. If you have any questions, give me a call or shoot me an email. I hope I’ll know the answer, but if not – we will learn together! ;)

Family Portraits by 1stLite

Almost more than I love to photograph children, I LOVE to photograph FAMILIES!! The kisses and hugs, thoughtful glances, full-blown bursts of shared laughter, and the absolute certainty of family love on display in front of my lens… I love every moment of it!!
Love is ABSOLUTELY what it’s all about! I hope YOUR family has a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Some of these shots are just for me….
Posted on October 20, 2010

Yazoo County CVB Executive Director, Tonja Ray-Smith, enjoying a moment of deep thought at one of the CVB's Unwind After 5! events.
As many of you may know, in March of 2010 I started a part-time job at the Yazoo County Convention & Visitors Bureau in Yazoo City. I was hired to be Administrative Assistant, but we recently discovered that I’m really a Communication Coordinator, so my title changed (I didn’t get a raise, but I do make more sense now!… Ok, so some of these jokes are just for me, too…). I had no idea how much this part-time job would change my life. My self-esteem, my focus and drive, even my eye as a photographer – have all taken new directions. I am so grateful to have found a job I LOVE this much, and co-workers and a boss that I consider good friends and wonderful people to work with!!
Yes, I am still a photographer (and photography is one thing I do for Yazoo County CVB) and I will always be a photographer, but I have developed a love for Yazoo County that I never knew before. I’ve learned SO much and met SO many people and my interest in increasing tourism and much more in our county has increased exponentially!!
Still, while I’m out there shooting for a CVB event or making photos of Yazoo County attractions…
…there are moments, and some shots, that are just for the photographer and artist in me.

My Beautiful Mom...

My beautiful Mommy….
A couple days ago I took a drive out to Carter outside of Yazoo City. My Mom has worked at Yazoo Planters Gin for 14 years as the Bookkeeper and Secretary. She called and wanted me to bring my camera out for photos of the gin, of the pickers in the field, the cotton modules (giant bales waiting to be ginned), and some of the most beautiful cotton I’ve ever seen. Seeing her standing there in the cotton with her pink shirt and shoes (you more often see her in pink than not), the sunlight at a perfect angle, the white cotton acting as a natural reflector, the blue sky… I could not resist. I feel very blessed that she allowed me to capture her like this.
